Skin is garnering early critical praise:
“Flume’s greatest strength has always lied in his unique sound design, and that certainly hasn’t changed.”—The Fader
“Flume’s signature bursts of future bass alongside a disparate and diverse range of newfound influences ranging from tap-drip trap to minimalist electronica.”—VICE’s Thump
“Flume remains a champion of his own brand of unique sound.”—Mixmag
“‘Never Be Like You’ heaves and shudders towards catharsis, oscillating between expressions of loneliness and forceful statements of independence”—The Fader
“...smoothly balancing chilled out trap effects with spacey ambient noise and future bass elements, going hard and soft at once—a duality expressed in the lyrics as well”—Billboard
“Kai provides sumptuous and sterling vocals over sparkling half-time drops, like an instrumental B-side from FutureSex LoveSounds. The new R&B look is a good one for Flume”—SPIN
“It’s a fragile, stuttering piece of electronic wizardry, caught somewhere between after-hours and the home studio”—Pigeons & Planes
“It’s sounding fantastic, an absolute whirlwind of electronic madness that recalls the steely grit of Brodinski and PC Music’s bubbly experimentation in equal measure”—Pigeons and Planes
