Au Revior SimoneHello all! Radio 1190 has been presenting wads of swell shows the last few weeks. I was lucky enough to attend The Felice Brothers, The Hot IQs last show, and Au Revoir Simone. ARS played at the fox on Sunday and I am still in awe of their cute trio. They are an indie pop band from Brooklyn, New York that formed in late 2003. The group consists of Erika Forster (vocals/keyboard), Annie Hart (vocals/keyboard), and Heather D’Angelo (vocals/drum machine/keyboard). I guess the band name comes from a character in Tim Burton’s Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, which is perfect because they kept making obscure references to the movie during the show (thanks to J pro for catchin on). Check out their myspace and definitely try to pick up their new album Still Night, Still Light out on Our Secret Record Co.

troll 2 If you are looking for a terrible/hilarious movie to indulge in this week, I highly recommend themasterpiece work that is Troll 2. However, If you are a fan of the first Troll, you will be sorely disappointed because it has nothing to do with the original. Troll 2 was first titled “Goblins”, which is far more accurate because there are actually no trolls living in the peaceful town of Nilbog. Just goblins. The acting in this cinema blockbuster is A+… (It literally sounds like every character is reading from cue cards). It gets a 8 out of 10 for being more laughable than most comedies.

Ed McMahon

On a bittersweet note, Ed McMahon passed away today at the age of 86. He was  Johnny Carson’s sidekick on the Tonight Show and made “Heeeerrrreee’s Johnny” a household phrase. He was also well known for hosting shows such as Star Search” and “TV’s Bloopers and Practical Jokes,”. One of my favorite memories of Ed was his appearance as Ed McGangsta in the Freecreditreport.com commercials HERE, and HERE. RIP ED.
