The best song in the world…….

Sometimes I revert to my teenage years and will play a track over and over again like its the best song in the world.

Lately, I can’t stop flipping out over one of the most important songs to my teenage self – “Temptation” by New Order.  I discovered this live version (short shorts and all) recorded at the BBC Radio 1 studios in 1984 and I turn the headphones real loud, close my eyes and move my head!

…man, some of those BBC recordings are the best. I remember I OBSESSED over a live version of “Every Little Counts” and withered up like a prune listening to it in the bath on repeat when I was 16.

Brand new FREE local music!

Do you know the Bocumast record label? They are one of my favorite sources for local music. Today they put out two brand new releases that are available for FREE on their website! Click on the pictures for direct links to download them…

“Free Radicalz!” is the work of Thundercade aka Ryan from BDRMPPL. Booty beats and electronics.

“Opened Captioning” is the work of Yawntron aka Shane from Wire Faces and Tom from Iuengliss. Like an electronic version of Hella, but even crazier.

And if you want MORE free, local music to download, check out the Gypsy Cab Co.‘s new CD. They are a group of high schoolers from Denver who came together over their mutual love of the Black Lips. They may be young, but they are pros at writing catchy garage songs.  They’ll also be playing a live set on Under the Mattress on August 16th!
