DRUMROLL PLEASE…. Time for your HIGH FIVE!

Sunday, July 5th, 2009

Okay, how are you? I’m done with my MJ mourning. I’ve moved on. So much going on in the world, locally, in Alaska… How was your 4th? Were you at The Shoppe in Denver? 1190′s own Adam entered the cupcake eating contest, but I missed it. Adam got 5th place, yay! I spent America’s birthday at an amazing house overlooking Boulder in a giant heated pool, MEOW! Amazing firecrackery view. POP! POW!

Did you see any fireworks?

Here’s what I’m loving now. You know, the things (usually five of ‘em) that deserve a HIGH FIVE cuz they’re so awesome:

1)BATDANCE! I’ve had bits of that song in my head for the last few days so I had to Youtube it. While it isn’t one of Prince’s best, it was exciting at the time and fun to relive. Man, Batman was such a great film. Oh and speaking of Prince, I only wanted 2 see laughing in the Purple Rain! Purple Rain could be my favorite soundtrack ever.

2)Robogeisha: A handful of people have sent me this link over the last few days… and yes I will see this film someday.

3)Rusty the European Tour! I would SO wear a jacket like that with my name on it. And man, I wish I was on vacay in Europe right now, preferably with the Griswold family.

4)Bruno is out next week! I’ve watched zat trailer so much! I also had fun on his “Meinspace” page!

crossed_existence2.jpg5)Did you go to Hinterland on First Friday? If not, here’s what you missed: “Crossed Existence: 40 years of (un)related memories” …mixed media installations by Sabin Aell, Viviane Le Courtois and Andrew Novick.

6)Newish Dinosaur Jr. video. Sort of reminds me a little of the Skinny Puppy breakdancing video. I like the song okay. I love J. Mascis’ locks. Love Lou’s face!

7)Le Tour De France. I’m not fanatical enough to stream it online, but I find myself following the teams a few days in… remember when Kraftwerk did that Tour De France song?

8)I’d like to see Zowie Bowie, I mean Duncan Jones’ directorial debut Moon. While its received ho-hum reviews, I will see it on dvd and probably like it more than the reviews I’ve read. It stars Sam Rockwell who plays an astronaut who discovers a clone of himself on the moon.

9)Stuart Murdoch from Belle and Sebastian has a new project out. Its called God Help the Girl and is a record full of cute pop songs sung by a girl group that he assembled (think The Ronettes). His ultimate goal is to turn the project into a musical film, so this is the soundtrack to it. I just ordered my copy, so I only know a few songs that I heard online and the two B&S songs on it, but am eager to hear the whole thing!

10)Happy Birthday Red Trolley! My favorite ice cream/gelato shop in North Denver turns one today and to celebrate they had a party and specials on their food. While I was there, I saw a guy with an 1190 t-shirt on…. the one from a few years ago (maybe four) with the record on it. Wish I would have talked to him, but was busy chatting with friends.

<3 to you,
